Student careers and internships

Student careers provides students with access to AI related internship and employment opportunities by offering a high-quality personalized service. Students are assisted in developing, evaluating, and implementing education, career, internship and employment decisions and plans. This includes support to ensure that students are coached, prepared, and acquire the techniques for writing appealing resumes, understand appropriate personal branding, job search strategies, attending employer engagement events and interviews.

Student careers has relationships in the regional community, government, and private sectors to secure appropriate AI related internships and job opportunities. This is achieved via a variety of employer engagement initiatives, both virtually and on-campus, including a dedicated online MBZUAI Student Careers Portal.

A range of career services are available to students including:

  • Individual assessments and the opportunity to explore career options

  • Provision of up-to-date labor market information on AI career pathways

  • Professional support services including resume and cover letter writing

  • Online profile development (e.g. LinkedIn and relevant e-portfolios)

  • Internship and job application support

  • Provision of internship and employment opportunities

  • A range of employability workshops hosted by the student careers team and external speakers

  • Access to a range of employer engagement initiatives including internship and opportunities fairs, job interviews, networking events, employer sessions and webinars

MBZUAI Student Careers Portal

The MBZUAI Student Careers Portal provides an online platform allowing students, alumni and employers to connect.

For students and alumni, they may use the platform to:

  • Book 1:1 appointments with the student careers team

  • Upload their resume and online profile

  • Apply for internship opportunities posted by employers

  • Apply for employment opportunities posted by employers

  • Register for a range of employer events, information sessions and workshops

  • Access a range of career resources including the mock interview experience, AI technical and non-technical interview questions, videos, articles, AI job profiles, AI resume templates and personal branding resources

STUDENT CAREERS PORTAL

Alumni shall be granted continued access to the MBZUAI Student Careers Portal, careers related resources and access to careers related activities to support job search activities.

Alumni shall be part of the MBZUAI alumni database and can share professional accomplishments with MBZUAI, as well as the capability to share up-to-date contact details to stay in touch with MBZUAI.

Alumni will be eligible to attend student careers related events to support gaining employment if not secured prior to graduation.

Internships

Participation in an internship allows the student to enhance their overall educational experience and continue to develop and grow knowledge, skills and competencies. Hear from students who have undertaken an internship as part of their studies at MBZUAI.

Internships

Employers can assist in providing students with hands-on experience in the field of AI, while blending practical experiences with academic learning. Any internship should be clearly defined with specific learning outcomes that will be discussed and agreed between the student and the assigned MBZUAI supervisor and employer.
